Cameroon – Far North: 4 fishermen receive medals and 500 000 CFA F each for capturing 2 Boko Haram members!

Younoussa Mahamat, Abdouraman Mahamat, Ali Sali Bangui and Abdouraman Ousmanou each received the medal that make them Knights of the Cameroonian Order of Merits and also a sum of 500,000 FCFA each.

On August 13, 2016, at the Grand Stand of Kousseri (Far North), during the a meeting to boost the vigilante committees of the Logone and Chari division, four brave fishermen were honored. Younoussa Mahamat, Abdouraman Mahamat, Ali Sali Bangui and Abdouraman Ousmanou received on behalf of the Head of State, Paul Biya, the medal of Knights of the Cameroonian Order of Merit and 500,000 CFA francs each, from the hands of the Governor of the Region Midjiyawa Bakari. They neutralized two members of the Boko Haram sect heavily armed a month ago in Kousseri.

According to the daily Cameroon Tribune that relays information in its edition of 16 August 2016, it recalls the facts that justify these honors. About a month, we learn, the four fishermen who were operating in the waters of Lake Chad fell into the trap of two members of the terrorist sect Boko Haram armed to the teeth. “Feeling that they were well between life and death, these brave fishermen who were armed only with the strength of their arms were able to neutralize these members of the sect after an epic battle and delivered them to the defense forces and this after snatching their arsenal, “the paper said.

On August 13, Midjiyawa Bakari promised to the 25 vigilante committees of the Logone-&-Chari division permanent support from the state to overcome the sect. He also reframed their role as part of this war against the forces of evil, while warning everyone who would lend themselves to a double game.
