The attack took place on the night of 9 to 10 August 2016. The intervention of the Cameroonian defense forces and the Joint Multinational Force helped make lighter the balance sheet totaled 5 dead and 2 injured.
According to information collected and reported by our colleague Olivier Mbelle, Editor of the Le Courrier newspaper, the Islamic-terrorist sect Boko Haram has carried out an attack in the village of Gambarou in the night of 9 to 10 August 2016. Quoting a military source he indicates that the assailants attacked the village of Gambarou, not far from Dubbed, on the Mora-Waza axis, in the Mayo-Sava division. Their incursion resulted in casualties on the side of the people.
“The full balance sheet of this incursion of Boko Haram reported five villagers dead, 2 gunshot wounds, 2 burned traders trucks, 64 fire cases, 189 sheep and goats burnt by the attackers,” says our colleague . Alerted by this attack, a small patrol of the Alpha operating elements of the Rapid Intervention Battalion embarked on a counter-offensive against Boko Haram fighters.
The Cameroonian military did not act alone. They were assisted by the elements of the Joint Multinational Forces based in Mora. Cornered, the fighters of the terrorist sect had to withdraw. They retreated and fled to nearby Nigeria. The determination of the enemy was unwavering. Impossible, therefore, to withstand the firepower of the coalition forces.
Although they are somehow spaced, attacks by Boko Haram in the Far North Region of Cameroon persist. They let see the wildness of their authors, capable of killing for the sake of taking the lives of innocent people. One still does not understand why they attacked the sexagenarian Parahod Douvagui, beheaded in the night of 25 to 26 July 2016 at Vreket, his village, where he lived alone since the escape of the other inhabitants.
