On Saturday, June 11th 2016 in the economic capital, a trainee journalist of Sweet FM, a private radio station based in Douala, was forced to undress, by the security guards of the Gyneco-Obstetric hospital of Douala (HGOD).
The case is revealed by journalists based in Douala, the country’s economic capital. Specifically, by the MD of Chief Sweet FM, Clarence Yongo.
“Left for a mission by her superiors, who are working on an investigation on babies held in the incubators of the HGOD for non-payment of hospital fees by their progenitors, a nurse alerted her superiors on the unlawful presence of a journalist in the grounds of the hospital, “says Clarence Y.
“In turn, the hierarchy called the Yassa gendarmerie brigade that descended on the scene and to challenge Jacky Tchamko, journalist of Sweet FM”, she continued.
The young journalist, it was learned, was forced to undress completely naked!. According to the hierarchy of the HGOD, the journalist had no permission to conduct an investigation into this hospital structure presented as a flagship of the Cameroonian health system.
The National Union of Journalists of Cameroon (SNJC), the main grouping of journalists and media men, protested against what they called violations of human rights and threatens to sue.
This new case comes at a time when doctors and public relations are not looking good, since the outbreak of Monique koumatekel case, the dead woman at the Laquintinie hospital in Douala in March, 2016.
