The double suicide bombing of the Meme market made 24 dead and 112 wounded.
A military intelligence track allowed the elements of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) of Mora, to question the alleged mastermind of the double suicide bombing of the town of Meme in Mayo-Sava. The named Halima Baba was arrested on May 19, 2016 at the Meme periodic market when he went there for other businesses.
According to military sources, Halima Baba would be among the terrorists who deposited the two suicide bomber ladies who had driven the explosive charges at the Meme market.
As a reminder, a double suicide bombing shook the town of Meme on 19 February. The two explosions had killed 24 people and wounded 112. It was the first time that the city was targeted by Boko Haram, and the toll was heavy.
The Governor of the Far North had then taken a preventive measure by temporarily closing the Meme periodic market. Located near Maroua and Nigeria, the Meme locality is deemed to be a market where stolen cattle are sold. Military Security has already arrested several Boko Haram cattle sellers in the Meme market.
