Cameroon – MTN: Mobile operator suspends 120 000 subscribers!

MTN Cameroon had warned, the mobile operator company is on the offensive. The South African group, number one on the Cameroonian market of mobile telephony (10 million subscribers) has just completed the suspension of 120,000 telephone numbers. These are subscribers who have not completed the full identification of their numbers.

To believe The Daily newspaper L’Economie on newsstands of May 17, 2016, the suspension took place on May 11: “Most of these numbers were no longer active, we learn.” As announced a few months ago, MTN wants to proceed with the complete identification of all subscribers. Another phase of blocking telephone numbers has been shceduled for subscribers who have not complied to rules.

While waiting, the identification campaign continues. According to the newspaper, “more than 1500 mobile identification officers are on the streets on the entire national territory with t-shirt that read: ”Faites enregistrer votre numéro !’ ” ‘Or:’ ‘S’identifier, c’est exister!’.
